What's the selection principle of slewing bearing steel?

When designing and manufacturing rolling bearings, What's the selection  principle of slewing bearing steel?The following principles are generally  followed to select bearing materials.

1. According to bearing working conditions
1) Operating temperature: bearings working at normal temperature, using  chrome bearing steel.Working temperature higher than 150 ℃ lower than 250  ℃ using chromium bearing steel, but with special heat treatment (200 ℃ or  300 ℃ tempering required).

2) Size of impact load: bearing under strong impact load, generally not  using chrome bearing steel, most of the high quality carburized structural  steel, impact tool steel or tempered structural steel.

3) Contact media: bearings used in corrosive media must be made of  corrosion-resistant steel or alloy steel with good corrosion  resistance.Structural steel, shock resistant tool steel or tempered  structural steel.



2. According to bearing structure select
Bearing parts have a complex structure, such as the outer ring with a  baffle, and bearing a high impact load, it is advisable to use carbon  steels with good processing performance.The outer ring of stamping needle  bearing can be made of 08 and 10 low carbon steel (good plastic, suitable  for cold stamping).Joint bearings used in swing mechanism or control  mechanism can be formed by cold extrusion of GCr15, 9Cr18, 9Cr8Mo and alloy  structural steel with excellent cold plastic deformation properties.

3.According to bearings fatigue life and reliability requirements
The fatigue life and reliability of bearings depend to a certain extent on  the purity of steel and the uniformity of structure.For general use,  ordinary bearing steel is smelted by acid open hearth furnace or alkaline  electric furnace.With the continuous improvement of smelting methods, new  smelting methods, such as current remelting, vacuum smelting and electron  beam furnace smelting, have been produced, and the service life of bearings  made of bearing steel refined by the above methods has been improved  accordingly.Suitable for bearing with special requirements for fatigue life  and reliability, such as railway vehicle axle box bearing, aero-engine  spindle bearing and navigation system bearing.In addition, the processing  performance, supply of goods and domestic resources of steel should be  taken into account comprehensively when selecting steel grades.
